Accountability

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is the governing body to which all practicing nurses and midwives are accountable. In order to maintain registration nurses and midwives must adhere to a strict code of conduct and demonstrate competency, knowledge and skills through a portfolio of continuing professional development. I am currently registered on three parts of the register;

Registered Specialist Community Health Nurse

Registered Nurse – Children

Community Practitioner Nurse Prescriber

Self-employed registered nurses and midwives must hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

Insurance

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) offers members opportunity for professional development, advocacy and support, and provides professional indemnity and public liability insurance for registered nurses wishing to practice on a self employed basis. I am a full member of the RCN.

Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)

The CRB is an Executive Agency of the Home Office set-up to help organisations make safer recruitment decisions. It runs police checks to ensure that any individual wanting to work with vulnerable members of society, such as children, does not pose a threat to the safety and wellbeing of that person or group. I hold a valid CRB certificate.
