My nursing career began in 1994 at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, where I trained as a paediatric nurse. I have since worked in partnership with children and families. My experience is varied and ranges from general paediatrics and school nursing in London through to working with children with chronic and complex special needs in Jersey. I have been working as a Health Visitor in Cheltenham since 2005.
I have had a special interest in complimentary medicine for many years. My travels through Latin America, China and South East Asia have served to broaden my perspective in healthcare and fuel my passion for an holistic approach to promoting health. I am trained in Indonesian and Chinese massage (Tui Na) and I am qualified to teach Baby Massage and Movement. I am currently undertaking training in Emotional Therapy.
I strongly believe that when an integrated approach to healthcare is utilised, where evidence based information, practical skills, appropriate intervention and complimentary medicine are provided in harmony, it enables the holistic health needs of a person or family to be considered and supported. The physical health needs of a parent or child cannot be considered without also considering psychological, emotional and spiritual needs, just as the health needs of a child and parent within a family impact on one another. |
