Baby Massage is an ancient art that has been widely practised in the western world since the 1970s. Its benefits have been well documented.
It can improve digestion and help balance respiration and circulation. It can promote healthy skin, aid in the elimination of waste products from the body and boost immunity. It can increase the release of endorphins, the body's natural pain relief, which can aid in the management of teething pain, wind and colic. It can help develop strength and flexibility of the joints and muscles in preparation for sitting, crawling and walking. Its calming effect can also promote relaxation and sleep.

By its very nature it encourages eye contact and communication, and this lays an invaluable foundation for the future development of speech and language skills.
Most importantly it can facilitate bonding and a loving relationship between parent and baby. Research shows that babies who form strong attachments with their parents show greater resilience when faced with stressful events later in life.
I am qualified in Tui Na (Chinese massage) and incorporate infant Tui Na techniques into my classes for the prevention and treatment of specific conditions.
I teach baby massage as part of my ‘Well Baby Café’ postnatal course, and run workshops for Dads in baby massage (please see ‘workshops, courses and events’ for details of dates and times). I am also able to offer one-to-one or group sessions at home if requested. Please contact me for further information.
